MaimoniDex RA is developing a humanized monoclonal antibody that specifically targets CD44vRA - a variant of the adhesion molecule CD44 that is selectively expressed by pathological synovial fluid cells involved in the inflammatory process that underlies RA. CD44vRA targeting of synovial fluid cells of RA patients has been shown to result in their programmed death (apoptosis). CD44vRA is not expressed by healthy cells and therefore represents the first RA-targeted therapeutic approach.
